Balinese massage consists of a combination of different techniques from various cultures that the Balinese people have adapted to create their own unique style that is now popular around the world. The Indian Hindu influences included Ayurveda healing techniques for massage, oils and herbs. From Buddhism in China came acupressure techniques. In more recent times, foreigners introduced Swedish Massage techniques that were added to the combination that Balinese massage had already incorporated from Javanese modalities and overseas contributions.
