AIM

This unit will provide the Learner with the awareness of how to prevent and control the spread of infection within the work environment and how to work safely.

UNIT INTRODUCTION

This unit will assist in providing knowledge and understanding of the types, causes, transmission and effects of infections.

Learners will understand common infections and the chain of infection, the importance of correct hand washing procedures, the principles of personal protective equipment, the decontamination process, waste management procedures and roles and responsibilities in preventing infection.

External Examinations

All learning outcomes will be externally examined during a theory examination.
External examinations will test knowledge and understanding from across the whole qualification.
For examination purposes CIBTAC Examiners will also orally question Learners during the practical examination.
